Fiche recette : Kilimanjaro au whisky

Hello !

Enfin des nouvelles fraîches, presque aussi fraîches que les cîmes enneigées du Kilimanjaro !

5 jours d’ascension, 1 et demi de redescente, recette d’une escapade sur le toit de l’Afrique, par la voie Machame, également appelée “Whisky route”, car plus difficile que la voie Marangu, dite “Coca cola route”… Pour les amateurs, il est préférable de laisser le whisky en bas !

INGREDIENTS (pour 5 personnes) :

  • Un point culminant de l’Afrique (5895 m) enneigé (attention, stock de neige en voie d’épuisement) 

  • 4 coéquipiers. De gauche à droite : Séverin, Cloé, Sylvestre, Jeb

  •  Un guide et des porteurs (obligatoire, même pour ceux que le “romantisme colonialiste” dérange). A noter que le porteur semble avoir une anatomie et/ou des us et coutumes différentes du gentil touriste, comme en atteste cette photo :

 

  • L’équipement nécessaire pour une virée en montagne (duvet resistant à -20°c, anorak, bonnet, mouffles, essentiellement pour la dernière étape)

PREPARATION

  • Avant le départ, réunir les coéquipiers, vérifier que matériel et bonne humeur ne manquent pas. Porter l’impatience à ébulition.
  • Incorporer l’équipe dans l’avion pour Nairobi, puis remuer pendant 5 à 6 heures (mi piste, mi route) dans un bus pour Arusha (ville la plus proche du kili, où se trouve aussi le tribunal internationnal pour le génocide rwandais).
  • Jour 1 : Rejoindre le pied du kilimanjaro au départ de la voie Machame, hisser les joyeux randonneurs à 3 000 m, en traversant une zone de forêt semi tropicale. Dénivelée : 1 200 m, 4h de marche. Laisser reposer jusqu’au lendemain matin.

  • Jour 2 : Atteindre le camp Shira à 3840 m, arrêter de fumer en prévision des jours suivants et mettre au frigidaire (à défaut, une tente fera l’affaire) pendant 8 heures. Pousser des “Ah !” et des “Oh !” devant le paysage environnant. Dénivelée : 840m, 3h45 de marche.

  • Jour 3 : Rallier le camp de Baranco à 3950 m, en passant par le col de Kibo à 4600 m, afin d’affermir et d’acclimater la viande.  Dénivelé : 110m (+ 760 m / - 650 m), 4h de marche. Ajouter un bouquet garni à la marinade, attendre le lendemain matin pour obtenir un sol gelé.

 

  •  Jour 4 : monter, redescendre et remonter pour atteindre le camp de Barafu hut, à 4600 m, en prévision de l’ascension finale imminente… Enrouler soigneusement les randonneurs dans des papillottes isolantes pour éviter une congélation nocturne. Dénivelé : 650 m, 4h45 de marche.

  • Jour 5 : A minuit, sortir les randonneurs des papillottes. En cas de résistance, heurter par l’arrière à grands coups de pieds jusqu’à démoulage complet. attention, l’individu doit rester en un seul morceau… Ajouter une lampe frontale à chacun, et démarrer en direction du sommet. A Stella Point (sommet intermediaire, 5 795 m) ventiler l’équipe par -20°c pour éliminer toute chaleur superflue. Continuer jusqu’à Uhuru Peak, sommet le plus haut (5895 m), et attendre le lever du soleil pour décongeler les marcheurs. Redescendre jusqu’à 3400 m après une sieste bien méritée au camp intermédiaire. Dénivelé : + 1 300 m / - 2 500 m, 10h de marche. Retirer délicatement les chaussures et laisser sécher.

 

  •  Jour 6 : Terminer la redescente jusqu’à l’entrée du parc, décorer avec un diplôme de toute beauté. Déposer les randonneurs dans une auberge de jeunesse, rincer à l’eau tiède et frotter abondamment jusqu’à faire réapparaitre la peau sous la croute de crasse. Disposer autour d’une bière fraiche, c’est prêt ! Bon appétit !

  2. Et ben dis donc… elle n’a pas l’air d’être à la portée de tout le monde ta recette ! Et maintenant tu fais quoi ? Après les montagnes, la mer ? Après les crampons, les tongs ?
    En tout cas, il est agréable de voir que tu n’as pas abondonné ta bonne humeur avec la crasse sur les monts africains !

    Continue bien ta route. On a devore tes 2 livres Parisienne a Lhassa et Kerouac On the Road tranquillement sur un hamac en remontant l`Amazone ! Merci !

    C’est avec un immense plaisir que j’ai partagé un bout de ton escapade
    Gouter à cette superbe recette de kili au whisky fut une régalade.
    l’indigestion de ce type de plat est impossible je pense !
    Merci encore de m’avoir initié au treck (c’est certes un peu violent pour un premier) mais entouré des meilleurs ce n’est que du bonheur.
